Addiction Charters is ideally located at North Point Marina in Winthrop harbor Illinois, just an hour north of Chicago and thirty minutes south of Milwaukee. North point Marina is one of the top salmon producing ports is in Illinois, and is closer to deep water, which means more time fishing. Captain Dave Garnier will be your guide to hook you up with tackle testing Kings, aerial bound Rainbows, and cooler filling Coho Salmon of Lake Michigan. When fishing aboard Addiction, a Trojan 10 Meter International with a wide 13' beam, twin 454 engines and a huge back deck, there is plenty of room to land the fish of a lifetime.
King Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) also called Chinook salmon. King salmon are one of Lake Michigan's great sport fish. An extremely strong fighter, they may strip off 200 to 300 yards of line on its initial run. Then, it will bull dog and refuses to come in. A 20 pound wall hanger can easily wage a half-hour battle. Chinooks are extremely wary and sensitive to light, so they are not as likely to feed on the surface as cohos.

Coho Salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) also called silver salmon. Springtime fishing can be fast and fearious for Coho in the 2 to 4 pound range while trolling the surface. By mid summer these Coho have grown to an amazing 10 to 12 pounds, and never give up the fight. Illinois State record Coho 20.9lbs.
Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) also called steelhead, is an attractive game fish that strike aggressively, fight valiantly and are an angler's joy. There is some confusion about the rainbow and steelhead, they are the same species, differing only in spawning behavior. The rainbow spends its entire life in streams, whereas the steelhead is anadromous (lives in the ocean or large lake and returns to spawn). The average rainbow is about five pounds with some reaching 16 pounds by age six. Illinois State record Rainbow 31.7lbs.
Brown Trout (Salmo trutta) Brown trout are distinguished by large black and sometimes reddish-orange spots with a pale border on the sides of the fish. These spots are modified Xs when the fish is large. They grow rapidly and may live to an age of six years and reach weights of eight to ten pounds. Some may reach 30 pounds in Lake Michigan. They are among the wariest of fish, feeding usually at dusk or at night. Brown trout prefer water temperatures between 55 degrees and 65 degrees F. and are typically found along the shoreline and at warm water discharges. This wary fish can be taken more readily in early morning and twilight hours. Light line is in order using conventional lures or natural baits. Illinois State record Brown 36.11bs.
Lake Trout (Salvelinus namaychush) also known as lakers. Lake trout are long-lived and do not reach sexual maturity until 6-8 years of age. While the average lake trout in Lake Michigan today weighs around seven pounds, some of the larger trophy fish are three feet long and weigh as much as 25 pounds. Lake trout are usually found on the bottom between depths of 90 to 250 feet, but may be found at lesser depths when the water temperature is near 48 degrees F. During the fall months mature lake trout move into shallow waters and reef areas in search of spawning areas. Shiny metal spoons are successful lake trout lures when fished properly.
