Cliff and Stella Blackmur have been operating Athabasca Fishing Lodges for 28 years. They are known for their hospitality and reputation for providing a quality fishing experience. Many guests return year after year, not only because of the trophy fishing that is unparalled anywhere in the north, but also because of the personalized attention they receive from Cliff and Stella, their guides, and staff.

Plummers Lodges

Few places in the Canadian north combine such a variety of freshwater fishing with all the comforts of home. Located near the 60th parallel in northwest Saskatchewan, Lake Athabasca is the largest lake in the province and is recognized as one of the "Big Fish" waters of the world. Whether you're after trophy Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, lunker Northern Pike, Whitefish, or Walleye, you'll find them all here. Best of all, you'll feel you have the great outdoors all to yourself.

Walleye are favorites with most guests, and are abundant in the river outlets and right in front of the lodges. Walleye average about 2-4 pounds, and recently our guests caught walleye weighing up to 7.5 pounds.

Northern Pike over 20 lbs. are common. The lake record and provincial record is 55 inches, caught in August, 2002. Guests have reported catching more pike than in most years, with many around the 50-inch mark. Pike fishing is outstanding throughout the season, with August being the prime time.

Lake Trout always provide a challenge. In these cold waters, they grow to enormous sizes, with 30 pounders and even 50 pounders! A new provincial record was set in 2002 with a 54-inch trout with a 34-inch girth, weighing an estimated 85 pounds.

Arctic Grayling, the "sailfish of the north" offer a lively diversion from the "tackle busting" tactics of the Pike and Lake Trout. Try catching Grayling on ultra-light spinning gear or a fly rod. Another record was set in 2002, with a 22-inch Grayling caught during the last week of August, 2002.
