Battle Creek Outfitters has been in operation and providing professional guide services for over 12 years. Our big game hunts primarily take place on private ranches, however we have now increased our hunting area to include parts of the Ochoco National Forest Service as well. We take pride in our operation and the fact that 70% of our clients come back each year, some hunting with us for over six years.

Oregon's big game hunting may well be one of the best kept secrets in the United States, with the second largest elk herd in America numbering over an estimated 125,000 animals (second only to Colorado), and our mule deer population on the increase with numbers estimated at over 250,000 animals.

PEDRO MOUNTAIN RANCH - A private ranch of 28,000 acres that has been locked up for 8 years. It has been lightly hunted by the owner. This private ranch has Mule deer bucks as good or better than the Castle Rock ranch. There are mature Mule deer bucks with great mass and spread’s in the 190 class. 300 class Rocky Mountain elk bulls reside on this ranch. This ranch is about an hour and half away from the Castle Rock ranch. It has high basins and timbered draws. There are sage-brush flats with great feed on the South slopes. We have a private road to the top of Pedro Mt. For us to use for spotting-stalking. There is great gold rush history in this area, but the hunting is awesome! The Rifle hunters will find that there is no better place to hunt for Mule deer or Rocky Mountain elk. The chance for the Bow hunter to take a Pope & Young class trophy is fantastic on this ranch.

BUCKAROO RANCH - This is a private timberlands ranch, with no buildings on it. It has 16,000 acres of some of the best archery hunting that you will find anywhere. We have had it for 8 years now and have taken some really great Rocky Mountain elk bulls in the 300 -340 class over the last few years. The Mule deer herd is small but there are some very mature bucks on this ranch. Our rifle hunters love it as they call it the Grandpa ranch as the terrain is very easy to hunt. There are no Mountains or canyons to worry about. Our wall tent camp here is very comfortable, as we can drive right to it. This allows us to bring in all of our equipment, plus you can bring in all of your goodies as well.

CAMAS BUTTE RANCH - This 20,000 acre private ranch is a great hunt for the archery hunter as well as the rifle hunter. This Private Ranch has about 300+ Rocky Mountain elk and a very good number of trophy Mule deer. There are great numbers of turkeys here as well. We can do a spring turkey/ground squirrel shoot. The opportunity for a trophy Rocky Mountain Elk or a trophy Mule Deer is great on this ranch. This ranch has some of the best habitat to hold Rocky Mt. Elk, making this private ranch a great one for the Bow hunter as well as the Rifle hunter. There are meadows, good timber and small hills with an elevation of only 4,200'. This ranch is bordered by other ranches and National forest.

Maury Ranch - This Private ranch has 30,000 acres to hunt for Rocky Mountain elk and Mule deer. The Antelope herd has some really good bucks in it. This private ranch is located about one hour East of Bend, Oregon on the edge of the Maury Mountains and the high desert. It has Alfalfa fields that draw the elk and deer in from the public lands. There is a cabin on a 36 acre lake with trout in the lake for you to fish. We only get two tags a year for the Rocky Mountain elk, and we can get up to 4 tags for the Mule deer.

Castle Rock Ranch - This 30,000 acre private ranch has produced our best Mule deer and Rocky Mountain elk for the last two years. We have taken some great bucks with heavy mass scoring in the 190' class and our bulls have been scoring in the 300"s with a 340 taken last season. This ranch lays in the Beulah unit of Eastern Oregon. The open sagebrush-dotted country with rocky rims and mountain mahogany provides miles of quality hunting for Mule deer. Large fields and meadows draw the Rocky Mountain elk and Mule deer from the surrounding country.

MORGAN LAKE RANCH - This Private ranch is run by a family member. Butch has leased this ranch for several years for his cattle operation. It is not a big private ranch, but it has lots of Rocky Mountain elk on it. There is no Archery hunts on this ranch, as it is fairly open county. This private ranch is located about one hour from La Grande, Oregon. We only let two trophy Elk hunters on it a year for big bulls. We also have a spike bull hunt on this ranch for the second elk season. We are 100% on this spike bull hunt. ($1,500 ) five day hunt.
