Plummers Lodges

We're a third generation family business in operation since 1949. Carpenter's Clearwater Lodge is located just 6 1/2 hours drive north of Winnipeg or you can reach us by daily commercial airline service from Winnipeg to The Pas Airport. Our eleven spotless cabins are fully modern with well equipped kitchens. We offer boat rentals and guide service. Clearwater Lake is an astonishing sight - crystal clear blue water with visibility to depths of 30 feet. Our season begins in mid-May with black bear hunting from baited stands for both rifle and bow hunters. June follows with excellent fishing for lake trout and northern pike which continues into July and August when we offer a weekly family rate. We also travel to other nearby lakes for walleye, rainbow trout and smallmouth bass. Our comfortable log cabin outcamp at Heming Lake, accessible by air or rail, provides access to a chain of three lakes. We offer day-use trips to two other lakes which are accessible only by float plane. Angling for walleye and northern pike is nothing short of spectacular on the entire chain of these five lakes.

During our fall season, you will experience both terrific fishing and some of the best waterfowl hunting in Western Canada.

Carpenter's Clearwater Lodge have three fully winterized log cabins which we open up for March & April ice-fishing. Our wood heated fishing huts will make for a cozy day out on the lake. Groomed snowmobile trails leave from our doorstep and link up with Flin Flon to the north.

BEAR HUNTING - Carpenter's Clearwater Lodge bear hunts on the Summerberry River system in the Tom Lamb Wildlife Management Area. You will be after the black bear species which varies in color from cinnamon to brown to black. Our stands are located between 30 and 50 miles from our Lodge and we are the only commercial operator in this area. The large, comfortable stands are situated at various distances from baits in order to accommodate rifle, black powder and bow hunting. Transportation to the stands is by 4-wheel drive truck/ATV/boat and is included in our package price. This price includes your guide who will skin and prepare your bear hide for the taxidermist, with one guide serving only two hunters.

Your accommodation will consist of a fully modern cabin completely set up for lighthousekeeping. All bedding and towels are supplied for you. During the fall, we offer a bear/fish combo that allows you to fill out your week angling for plump lake trout, monstrous northern pike and tasty walleye. Upland game bird season is also open in our zone during the first week in September.

GAME BIRD HUNTING (Duck/Goose/Upland) - Our northern Manitoba marshland is the natural habitat of thousands of mallards, scaup, canvasback, redhead, pintail, teal, bufflehead, widgeon, shoveller, scoter, ruddy, golden eye, snow and Canada geese. Upland game that inhabit our area include three types of grouse -ruffed, sharptail and spruce. Old logged-over areas within a few miles of our Lodge provide some excellent hunting grounds.

If you are an experienced hunter, it is not necessary to take a guide as a few directions are all that is needed to put you onto some superb hunting. We do have guides available and many of our customers find it beneficial to take one on their first day out until they are acquainted with the area. We have all bird licences on hand here at the Lodge.

Carpenter's Lodge is situated on the south shore of beautiful Clearwater Lake where TROPHY LAKE TROUT lurk in cold, crystal-clear waters. Bays on the north, west and east sides of Clearwater provide refuge for MONSTER NORTHERN PIKE, like the record-breaking 52-inch pike angled by one of our customers in 2000.

And while "Master Anglers" are a thrill to catch, it's those keeper-size fillets sizzling golden in the pan that make your fishing adventure a complete success.

We travel to nearby Cormorant Lake for WALLEYE and NORTHERNS, to Barbe Lake for RAINBOWS and BROOKIES and to Bradley Lake for SMALLMOUTH BASS.

VARIETY, WE'VE GOT IT!

Bring your own boat, or rent one of ours. Or let us pamper you in our 22-foot guided charter boats - fabulous fishing guaranteed.
