Catch trophy walleye and northern pike in the unpolluted freshwater lakes and rushing rivers. Due North Outposts asks that our guests respect our "no fish fly-out" policy in order to preserve our fantastic fishing for the generations to come. Guests may eat the walleye within the 13 to 18" range during their stay, but "CPR" (Catch, Photograph, Release) any over 18". Smaller northerns may also be consumed, but again, we ask you to release the northerns over 27". Complimentary walleye fillets are provided for your group to take home upon your departure.

These fly-in northern camps offers Due North Outposts guests the chance to escape the pressures of schedules and deadlines to become reconnected with themselves and with nature. From the moment you step off the DeHavilland Beaver floatplane and breathe the fresh, pine-scented air, you will discover what your spirit has been missing.

Due North Outposts facilities are easily found and conveniently located on McKenzie Lake in the northwestern Ontario town of Armstrong. A three and half hour drive from the Pigeon River border crossing will find you at our main base ready for your fly-in fishing or hunting adventure. A flight averaging half an hour will have you battling walleye and northern pike or placing crosshairs on a huge bull moose before you know it. The boreal wilderness beckons you to an outpost camp on a lake you can call your own during your time with us.

The business now known as Due North Outpost Adventures was formerly owned and operated by George and Sherri Dickson as Holinshead Lake Outposts from 1999 to 2002. During that time, they gained a reputation for running a carefree, clean and well-run outpost business, and enjoyed an incredible 85% return rate year after year.

George and Sherri, who continue to own and operate Holinshead Lake Resort at Holinshead Lake, sold the outpost business in 2003 to Elson Strickland and his wife, Kim, from northwestern Ontario who share their intense passion and respect for the outdoors. With George and Sherri's guidance, your hosts, Elson and Kim, will draw on years of outdoor experience to provide guests with unique vacation adventures with unparalleled fishing, hunting and relaxation.

Elson and Kim Strickland - Elson, a native of Thunder Bay, was raised in southern Ontario but returned to the northwest with his wife, Kim, in 1993 to raise a family, which now includes 4 young daughters. He is exceptionally familiar with the tourism industry, having worked in a five-star, full-service resort for many years. Successful small business owners for more than a decade, Elson and Kim's clients appreciate their uncompromising commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. An avid outdoorsman, Elson enjoys fishing and hunting in an intimate family setting or with a small group. Elson and Kim often spend their free time with the girls out exploring new areas of the wilderness. Elson is also an avid aviator, earning his private pilot's licence while still a teenager. He has explored many areas in the region and has a deep and abiding respect for both the land and the animals. Of course, he has his fair share of stories to tell about the ones that have gotten away…

Due North Outposts BMA encompasses an area of 1100 square miles where we are the only licensed outfitter. Once there, hunters are responsible for maintaining the baits and for providing their own stands. Due North Outposts will provide a spot to set up your stand.
