The Island Lodge is the ideal location for thoughtfull busy people to unwind. Our cabins do not have TV or phone.Sure we have phone and fax if someone has to reach you even email! Your cell phone will not work here.We can even lend you a tv/vcr to watch that movie you have not had time to see.

A Great Holiday Destination for the romantic. The food is superb, scenery spectacular, swimming, fishing excellent spring and fall, hiking, sailing, and exploring the thousands of coves and islands of Georgian Bay and the North Channel. Our guest are usually repeat customers some of whom have been coming for 30 years. We cater to small weddings, musicians, artists, writers, and educational groups.

The lodge and cabins have been renovated recently. All cabins are electrically heated and have their own four-piece bathrooms. Our 16 cabins are spread over 43 acres of an otherwise uninhabited large government owned island and offer some of the best scenery in Ontario. Accommodations range from one-bedroom cottages for couples, to a four-bedroom, two-bathroom cabin with its own fireplace, suitable for groups of eight.

Some of our best fish are caught from the shores of the island. Ardent anglers find excellent fishing for bass, northern pike, lake trout, muskie, perch and pan fish as they explore the protected waters among the many islands in the Bay of Islands. This area is at the foot of the La Cloche mountains and is part of the North Channel of Lake Huron. You may fish with or without a guide. We also have speckled and brown trout in a local lake a short boat ride and hike away!

We will give you a map of the waters, marked with suggestions of places to fish. For the more venturesome, a trip to the main land and a short hike into the mountain lakes offers fishing for Speckled and Brown Trout. We have an extensive selection of lures in our tackle shop and have both worms and minnows available.

Conferences - The Island Lodge is equipped to accommodate conferences of up to 75 people. A quiet and relaxed atmosphere to help make that working group a productive and enjoyable business trip.

Weddings - A wedding at The Island Lodge is the perfect way to include your family and friends in your special day. The most beautiful place in Ontario to enjoy an outdoor wedding. The picturesque surroundings will ensure your portraits turn out beautifully. The food and hospitality will ensure your wedding will be truly memorable.

Geologists - The area surrounding The Island Lodge is geologically unique, but the island itself is a treasury for geologists and rock hounds. The island is composed of rock formed during the Huronian time in the Precambrian Shield. The snowy white La Cloche range is characteristic of its quartzite composition. Many varieties of rock samples are available to the rock hound. A Geological guidebook is available at the lodge.

Naturalist - Endless wildflowers and wildlife abound on the island. It is not unusual for a family of ducks, a moose or our neighborhood great blue heron to be seen from the dining room windows during supper. Other wildlife on the island include raccoons, porcupines, flying squirrels, mink, beaver, deer, ruffed grouse and loons. A walk through the woods can be fascinating for any naturalist. In mid-June we have counted as many as 50 pink moccasin flowers blooming in one spot along the trail through the island. Guide books to wild flowers and birds is kept at the lodge for your reference.
