We have a number of fly-in camps within a 100 mile radius north of our Lake Lauzon Base. And we have drive-to cottages at Lake Lauzon.
Lauzon Aviation is a commercial air service and tourist establishment operates from the community of Algoma Mills, Ontario, Canada. And for over 40 years has spread the fame of Northern Ontario. From this small community, 90 miles west of Sudbury and 90 miles east of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Reino and Rita Makela and family have built Lauzon Aviation into a family owned and operated Four Season Tourist Establishment.
Mr. and Mrs. Makela are both from the North - where they have raised a family that shares their pride and love for the North. Together they offer you the opportunity to experience an outdoor wilderness adventure.
Reino and his son Ray fly the famous DeHavilland Beaver and Cessna 180 bush planes and are fully licensed A.M.E. (Aircraft Maintenance Engineers). His wife Rita (known to many friends as Butch) and their two daughters Rhea and Ronda run the office. Grandchildren, that's right, the grandchildren have arrived and they pitch in for the everyday operations. With these world renowned aircraft, the Makela's service their fly-in wilderness camps.

Mid Summer Sub-Arctic Fishing Trips - Should youfeel a little more adventurous we offer anadventure to Sutton Lake in the Hudson Bay area. You leave our base at Lake Lauzon and fly in our float equipped aircraft some 800 air miles North with stops in Cochrane and Moosenee. The flight takes approximatly 6 hours and takes you over the Canadian Shield. The James Bay frontier, past the tree line and offers a unique view of the changing landscape and wildlife. You can expect to see moose, caribou, polar bear and, a variety of small game birds. Minumum number of persons is two, and the cost 3500 each + tax (does not includeon-route meals and accommodations costs if flights are delayed due to weather). On this trip, the pilot and aircraft remain with the to act as a guide and a safety factor. Accommodations are nylon tents with floor and foam mattresses. At Sutton Lake we fish trophy size lake trout and speckle trout in the rivers. When the group becomes tired of trout, we jump in the plane and fly over to a near by lake for pickerel (walley) and northern pike. The fishing available is the finest in Northern Ontario, and is one of my favourites for photographing wildlife. The waters are never above 36 degrees F. and consequently all fish hit on the surface eliminating the need for deep trolling gear. The Sutton Lake packages are setup for 3 people pluse pilot, and includes return flight from our float base, food, tent, mattresses, boats, gas, motors, and cooking gear. On this trip we all pitch in to setup camp, cut firewood,cook, wash dishes, swap tales and swat flies. The day before we leave we catch enough fish to take home, polish off the snake bite medicine and put on clean clothes followed by the ceremonial burning of the underwear.
Mountain Top Lake Camp - From Mountain Top Lake Camp you have access to a circle route of five lakes by portage. The camp is finished inside with knotty pine and rustic furniture. It is well equipped and offers great comfort having one bedroom downstairs and a spacious loft upstairs. And a balcony overlooking a valley has an awesome view to the South. Excellent scenery for photography and great blueberry picking. This is the the only camp on the lake.
White Owl Lake Camp - This log sided camp is located on the Biscotasing Waterway and has proven to be a terrific Great Northern Pike and Lake Trout Lake. Spacious camp has two bedrooms and a large combined kitchen-dinning room, and sitting area. Trophy size Northern Pike, Trophy size Lake Trout, & Whitefish
Marionette Lake Camp - Located on the Biscotasing Waterway, big Northern Pike and short portages to other lakes. Also a great sandy beach lies in front for all to enjoy. Trophy sized Northern Pike and Whitefish. Large or small groups of up to 10 persons. Knotty pine inside-two bedrooms downstairs and upstairs loft for additional sleeping area. Spacious kitchen-dinning room combined. This camp is the only one on the lake.
Elbow Lake Camp - Another crystal clear and cold spring water fed lake. Exceptional Trout fishing with stream fishing opening May 26th. Even mid-summer Trout fishing is a reality in these cold water. Excellent fishing area for the ardent fly fisherman also. Modest outpost-basics under plywood construction. This camp is the only one on the lake.
Hastie Lake Camp - At the foot hills of the Hastie Lake Mountains, this new camp is situated on a small pine point. Fabulous fishing and magnificent scenery and a sandy beach at the east end of the lake. Walking trail winds through Hastie Lake Mountain."the way you like it." with a hand crafted fireplace. Trophy size smallmouth and largemouth bass, whitefish and lake trout. Portage to lakes for speckle trout and perch.
Blue Lake Camp - Blue Lake is approximately 11 miles long, grooved into the foothills of the Laurentian Mountain chain and offers a great variety of fabulous fishing. The crystal clear spring water and high terrain offer you a vacation with fabulous wilderness scenery for the greatest relaxation, adventure and fishing experience. The high-rise, screened in veranda allows for great comfort on hot summer days. Fish for Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Speckle Trout and Splake.
Robb Lake Camp - Here is a location where the Trout never stop biting (stream fishing also). Discover new adventures at this modest wilderness northern outpost Trout fishing camp. This camp is the only camp on the lake.
Bay Lake Camp - Fabulous Speckle Trout lake. A small lake that is nestled into the hills of the Laurentian Mountain Shield,with scenery that just can't be described. This Lake is small so you can discover it quickly in depths of crystal clear, cold water. This camp is the only camp on the lake. Speckle Trout up to 8 lbs. are common. Short portage to another Speckle and Lake Trout lake within 20 minutes.
McFadden Lake Camp - Sandy beach, clear water, numerous trails for snowshoeing or snowmobiling. Only 15 minutes by snowmobile to our Hastie Lake Camp. By snowshoe (1 hour). A trapper's cabin is the only other cabin on the lake, we call this wilderness in comfort"the way you like it." with a hand crafted fireplace.
