The males can grow to 600 pounds plus as adults and New Brunswick holds the World Record for the largest black bear ever weighed in and recorded, a whopping 910 pounds field dressed! Females(illegal to harvest in springtime if they have cubs) weigh in at much less and normally top out at 300 pounds.
We hunt logging company lands, some private land, old farms, cedar swamps, mixed growth areas and hardwood ridges, power lines and Logging roads.
White Tailed Deer are highly sought after in New Brunswick for at least two reasons.
1. Carrying heavy mass antlers in both typical and non-typical patterns and having average body weights in the 200-240 pound plus range, New Brunswick bucks are comparable in quality to trophy bucks found anywhere in North America!
2. New Brunswick hunt packages are unbelievably inexpensive, yet top quality and challenging and New Brunswick has very little hunting pressure so you are more apt to see trophy bucks than other hunters!
Moose hunt is by lottery and chances of being drawn are better than 1 in 12! Procedure to enter New Brunswick's non-resident Moose Lottery draw.
1. Between January 4th-April 30th.. call 1-800-994-2666 using a touch tone phone and either a Visa or Mastercard with expiry date ready.A $40.25 cdn. entry fee will be charged to your card. This process is fully automated and you will be prompted to enter specific information. Then you will receive an ID draw # which you retain.
2. Between May 17th and June 18th, please call back to 1-800-994-2666 and you will be prompted to key in the ID Draw # you were given when you entered to see if you were successful. If you were,.then call the outfitter of your choice and book your moose hunt.

Owner/operator, Ray Dillon is an avid accomplished hunter himself and is a well known outdoor writer/book author throughout New Brunswick and the New England States. He is considered to be an authority on big game hunting both by the province and sportsmen. Malarkey Cabin Guiding Service has been in operation since 1989, serving up trophy deer, moose and black bears to discriminating sportsmen and women for the past 17 years. Many hunters harvest their very first trophy here and many return annually for the hunt, for the food, the friendly service and the memories!
Black bears are prized both for their meat and as mounts and are very exciting to hunt! They are very shy and secretive animals with amazing sense of smell and hearing; animals that travel large distances to feed and to mate. Stalking such a big game animal is possible but highly unlikely for success. However, baiting proves very effective. Although spring and fall bear seasons are open for extended periods, we hunt only specific weeks in spring and fall that are proven to be the most effective for success both by our records and those of government! This helps us maintain our success rates and you bag your bruin!
Although we are Big game specialists, we also offer you some quality Uplands bird hunting for Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock in some of the finest bird habitat and covers in the province...
We offer you one on one or two on one hunting using your own dogs or we can arrange for a guide with dogs to accompany you!
Packages can be by the day or a six night/five days of hunting affair.. Our Ruffed Grouse are big, fast and challenging and offer excellent gunning opportunities and we are located in the center of the Woodcock's migration flyway so we have both the resident birds to hunt and a good supply of migrants heading south in autumn. Uplands hunting in early October offers exciting hunting with crisp frosty mornings, sunny days and color splashed countryside adventures!
