John and Mary Lou Blackwell, your hosts, took up homesteading at Moose Lake in 1969. With the help of their sons, Justin and Sidney, who grew up at Moose Lake, they have built the lodges at Moose Lake and the Dean. They have established a reputation for providing world class angling, hunting and eco tour adventures.

Plummers Lodges

Our facilities at Moose Lake, 300 miles north of Vancouver, British Columbia, centrally located in the Chilcotin near the headwaters of the Blackwater, Dean, and Entiako Rivers, is the ideal location to angle for rainbow trout. From this location, we specialize in guided and non-guided fly-outs to many rivers and streams for trout, steelhead and salmon, photography, hiking, horseback riding and eco tours from May to October. Experience the world famous Blackwater River - home of the Blackwater River rainbow trout and renowned for some of the finest dry fly fishing in BC. We provide quality guided hunts for moose and bear in the spring and fall. Our Dean River Lodge, located at the mouth of the Dean River, is the perfect location to catch summer run steelhead and salmon. From June 1 to September 15, at the Dean River, we provide guided angling, eco tours, photography, and fly-out fishing adventures. On the eco tours and photography trips from both locations, we see moose, black bears, spirit bears, grizzly bears, mountain goats, wolves, beavers, eagles, osprey, otters and seals. We have been guiding and fishing in this area of British Columbia for more than thirty years - our experienced pilots and guides will put you where the action is.

We know the best times to fish each water for the different species - we put our anglers in the best spots. We're noted for our fly fishing!

The lodge features a spacious dining room with large picture windows and a spectacular view of Moose Lake framed by the distant mountain ranges of British Columbia. We have eight hand-hewn log cabins, complete with bathrooms, showers and propane heat. Each cabin sleeps two to four guests.

From our Chilcotin location, we not only offer guided and non-guided fly-outs to many rivers and streams for trout, steelhead and salmon, but also wilderness photography, hiking, horseback riding and eco tours from May to October.

The Dean River, in British Columbia, is world famous for its summer run steelhead and salmon that come into the river from June to October. The Dean River steelhead are some of the strongest of all steelhead stock. This fact coupled with our location being very close to saltwater, guarantees you will experience "tackle-busters". These fish are chrome bright, with all their strength and stamina.

The Dean River Lodge is nestled in a beautiful setting overlooking the bay of the Dean Channel, with the Gratham Waterfall rushing to drop 1,000 feet in the backyard. Steep mountains of the British Columbia Coast Range capped with glaciers, rise up to heights of 8,000 feet in full view. The lodge is full service, with kitchen, dining room, sitting room, and three cabins to house six guests, two guests each, and a staff of four. Each cabins has it's own bathroom, shower, and propane heat.
