Our lakes, rivers and creeks are filled with abundant Walleye, Northern Pike and Lake trout, while our area is home to many wild animals like black bears, canadian moose, whitetail and mule deer and timber wolves there are also many species of birds not to mention our abundant migratory and upland birds to photograph.
Everyone will enjoy our beautiful scenery, unspoiled valleys, wonderful lakes, rivers and creeks and good fresh air. Perhaps best of all, is the companionship around the camp fire in the evenings while viewing the Aureole Borealis. So come join us for an unforgettable hunting adventure in the Northern Alberta Canadian Wilderness.
The Northern Boreal Region in Alberta offers some of the best big game Black Bear hunting available anywhere. We conduct our spring black bear guided trophy hunts in Wildlife Management Units 520, 528, 534, and 537 of the Northern Boreal Region, the bear population is very healthy in these units with many large and high quality animals available. The average size bear our hunters take home is 6 plus feet long and weights ranging from 300 - 600 pounds, with several larger trophies taken home each year by our clients. If you are looking for a black bear in a unique color phase other than black, we estimate 35% of our bears to be in color phases ranging from blonde to cinnamon to a deep chocolate brown.
Our spring Black Bear hunts are 6 day hunts with a two bear limit per hunter. Our success rate for many years has been 100% on the first bear and 75% on the second bear, limited only by hunter choice. The primary style of hunting we use for spring black bear is baiting, and our guides have mastered their baiting techniques over the years to help ensure hunter success. We set a minimum of two active baits per hunter with multiple bear activity and then place our hunters in the best possible spot for success. Often hunters will have the opportunity to see several bears visit the same bait which affords our clients different size and color phase opportunities.
Included in our spring bear hunts are transportation to and from the area being hunted, food, lodging, guide, license, and tags along with the incredible scenery offered by the Canadian Wilderness. Come join us for an unforgettable hunting adventure in Northern Alberta's Canadian Wilderness.
Our hunts are designed for success hence our 90% success rate over the years. We use various methods to achieve success for our hunters including the use of stands, spot and stalk techniques, to calling during the rut to bring the animals into comfortable range for our hunters. Whether you choose one of our big game archery hunts, rifle moose hunts, or prefer to use muzzleloader we have a hunt to fit your style. Our moose hunts are seven/ten day hunts (depending on date of hunt), with licenses and tags supplied by North Alta Ventures.
The Northern Alberta Boreal Region is home for two separate species of deer, the Whitetail and Mule Deer. Thanks to several relatively mild winters and outstanding management practices our deer populations are not only stable but are thriving. In fact, Alberta is becoming known to hunters all over as a world class destination for trophy big game Whitetail deer hunts and Mule Deer hunting as evidenced by the Boone and Crocket record book for these species
Besides the world class big game hunting, Northern Alberta is also known for it's migratory bird hunting. Each year thousands upon thousands of migratory birds including Canadian Geese, Ross Geese, Snow Geese and numerous varieties of Ducks stage in the area to feed on cereal grains in the fields and prepare for their long journey south.
For the Goose and Duck hunters, these are ideal conditions. These birds are still relatively naïve to hunters and rarely shy from the blinds we set up because North Star Alberta is located in the first Northern Flyaway as birds prepare for their southern flight to their winter feeding grounds. Add to this the long season we have and the liberal limits and it is easy to see why we consider our migratory bird hunting to be some of the best offered anywhere.
Our migratory bird hunts are 3 day hunts and include food, lodging, license, transportation to and from the hunt area, and a great time. Care of the birds once harvested is the hunters responsibility, but we also have a location where the birds can be processed and prepared at an additional charge. As stated earlier we have liberal bag limits in Northern Alberta so bring plenty of shells and camera film.
