Plummers Lodges

Pickerel Bay log cabins are nestled beneath towering blue and green spruce, birch, fir trees and aspen surrounded by abundant vegetation and lush natural grasses.

The air is absolutely clear and pure. The only sounds are the wind in trees, the call of the loons and waters of Pickerel Bay gently lapping at the smooth rock cut by glaciers millennia ago. It's a tranquil, beautiful setting, unspoiled as nature intended, with the site and smell of old growth pine ever present.

Our camp is located on the extreme eastern coast of Lac La Ronge right off of Hunter Bay in another bay locals refer to as The Aquarium of Walleye (Pickerel Bay). Pickerel Bay is a shallow bay averaging 10' deep, during spring the Walleye spawn here making for the best Walleye fishing an angler could ever experience.

Hunter Bay is a very deep body of water holding some of the biggest Lake Trout Saskatchewan has to offer. Lac La Ronge is mentioned in The Fisherman's Bible as being one of the best Lake Trout lakes in Saskatchewan and certainly a running contender as being one of the best Lake Trout lakes in North America.

Northern Pike fishing on Lac La Ronge in spring, summer, and fall is excellent. The early season (late May, early June) have proven to be very good, as well as the late season (Aug to Sept) when the whitefish become more active and the pike tend to eagerly follow the small schools of whitefish. In the coves of Hunter Bay produces excellent angling for Northern Pike. Trolling or casting works very well. Pickerel Bay Cabin's also encourages fly-fishing for pike.

Our day use lake Powdrill, has a good population of pike, ranging from 5 to 12 pounds. This lake is only used by Pickerel Bay Cabin's guests. The lake has some spectacular sites and offers a feeling of the true north. Observing moose and bald eagles is common place on Powdrill. To get there just take your boat on a ten minute drive, dock the boat and hike for approximately one mile. There will be a boat and motor waiting there for your use. It is well worth the hike, and makes for a wonderful day of angling. Pickerel Bay Cabins is now offering a new charter service for Northern Pike fishing. We will be using an experienced local guide to take you on this journey. The new charter will take you across Lac La Ronge from Pickerel Bay , for approximately one hour boat trip, to arrive at some of the best pike fishing on the lake. Parties up to four can take this excursion. Lunch will be provided.

We present high quality, full service spring/fall black bear hunts in Northern Saskatchewan at Lac La Ronge Provincial Park. Our hunting area (see picture below - area72) has an extreme concentration of black bear due to light hunting pressure. All hunting is done over functioning bait stations from tree stands or ground blinds. All hunt sites are baited and regularly maintained at least one month proceeding your hunt. We keep our bear hunts small to maintain our 90% success rate with 100% opportunity allowing no more than two hunters a week during the spring/fall hunt season.
