Have you ever dreamed of hunting virgin territory? Of being the first serious hunter to experience the game and excitement in an area that hasn't been worked over time and again. That opportunity is rare nowadays. Much of the forest assigned to Pierceland Outfitters is so rugged and inaccessible that Zane is opening up un-hunted bear areas each year. Serious black bear hunters want two things - big and colors. Big, heavy, large-skulled bears that score up in the B&C measuring system and blondes, chocolates, and cinnamon's that make exceptional rugs and mounts.
Anyone who hunts bears knows that it takes several years for a bear to get big - as in BIG. We are talking 300 pounds and up in the spring, 400 pounds and up in the fall. Heavily hunted populations just don't produce really big old boars. They don't live long enough to get the "belly-to-the-ground" look. The same goes for color-phase bears. If an area is heavily hunted the first bears to get shot will be the colored ones. In the spring of 2000, almost 1/3 of the bears coming into some of Zane's bait sites were blondes or color phases. That makes for interesting hunting at Pierceland Outfitters!
Pierceland Outfitters hunts in beautiful mixed forest, with continuous stands of aspen, birch, pine and spruce. About 25% of the total area has been logged, opening up excellent areas to spot wildlife. In addition oil and gas exploration has created a network of roads that provides access for trucks and ATV's. Whitetail hunting is in Meadow Lake Provincial Park, where no logging has taken place. The area has many lakes and ponds and provides superb habitat for deer and other wildlife at Pierceland Outfitters.
Let's face it - not all outfitters are created equal. Even in Whitetail Heaven (a.k.a. Saskatchewan), the success of your hunt is highly dependant on your guide and outfitter. Pierceland Outfitters has a proven record and we will do everything in our power to ensure that your hunt is successful. Zane and Myrna Pikowicz take enormous pride in their outfitting operation. Upon arrival you will realize that Pierceland Outfitters is not "your average outfitting operation". Top-notch equipment, experienced professional staff, proven hunting techniques and something special - excitement! Having one of the most productive deer areas in the province helps produce whitetails that will turn your dreams into realities.
How does Pierceland Outfitters bring in such big bucks every year? Part of the answer lies with the man - Zane Pikowicz. How many Saskatchewan outfitters where born and raised in their hunting areas? How many individuals made their living trapping and ranching before focusing on outfitting for a fulltime livelihood? How many outfitters where raised in a family that lived off the land, whose 84 year old mother is still an active, successful hunter! Zanes' roots are very deep in the meadows, swamps and forests that he hunts. Hunt with Pierceland Outfitters.
