We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have come to our resort in the past, some whom return annually and have become great friends and we look forward to their return each year, and others who have come only once, but have left fond memories! Thanks to everyone who has come to visit, hunt, fish, and just plain enjoy!
We would also like to take this opportunity to invite anyone who is thinking about a holiday, or a hunting or fishing trip, to contact us. We will, with the help of our staff, make your stay with us as comfortable and memorable as possible
Walleye are a popular species. They range in size from 2 to 5 lbs. Walleye are a sought after catch, prized for both flavor and quality. Mirond Lake remains a good walleye lake, and is protected by the Environment and Resource Management together with the Outfitters and the Commercial fisherman with the hope that it will remain so for future generations.
Northern Pike are great fun to catch. Average keepers at 3 to 6 lbs with trophies from 10 lbs and up. This one was caught August 98.
We have two day-use lakes, Cornelle Lake and Parenteau Lake that are otherwise accessible by flight, but because they are close to Mirond they can be reached by portage, and save yourself the cost of the flight. (We still will arrange a flight for you if you wish to fly in for a day of fishing.)
We are open all year and ice fishing is a great way to enjoy a winters day. This photo is of Lake Trout on Parenteau Lake.
Cornelle Lake has the same species as Mirond Lake, Walleye , Northern Pike, and Yellow Perch. Cornelle Lake also has two sets of rapids and is a very scenic northern lake.
Hunting can be a family holiday, a group of guys, or one lone trophy hunter on the prowl!! Our success rate for rifle remains at 99% .
We have an excellent black bear population with colors ranging from a light beige to cinnamon, brown and black. We have even had a two tone brown and beige taken at one time. We had a hunter photographing a white mother with two white cubs, and we had two 600 lb. blacks taken in the 1998 season.
Our hunters last year were very happy with the size of the bears. We also have very good hides with the fur for spring bears usually being very nice. We live in an area where the bears are not out too long before the season opens, and we don't run the season late, so the furs usually stay very prime. We have had several bears taken in the five to six hundred pound range.
