Plummers Lodges

Explore the area's scenic beauty, a variety of sights and sounds, and the many different animal and bird species. TOBIN LAKE is part of this incredible beauty ! Tobin Lake, just 30 minutes to the northeast of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, is a man made lake that serves as the resevoir for the E.B. Campbell Hydro-Electric Station.

The lake offers the largest Pike and Walleye in Saskatchewan. Tobin Lake holds the record Walleye at 18.2 pounds and the largest known Northern Pike landed at 38 pounds.

You'll find a lot of challenge in fishing the 40 mile long, 16 mile wide, Tobin Lake. It's a scenic four mile ride from the lodge and cabins to where you launch your boat.

The Saskatchewan River is a 10 minute walk ( you can also drive ) to the water to fish offshore. Fishing is excellent and the fish are plentiful.

The Tobin Lake Trout Pond is about three miles from the lodge and is stalked with Rainbow Trout. Here you can try your luck fly fishing or casting. The limit is 2 fish. The average weight is about one pound, with fish weighing up to 6 lbs. having been caught.

Catch And Release - There is a size limit on Tobin Lake ( the smaller fish are great for eating ), to allow for plentiful fish stocks and trophy Northern Pike and Walleye. For your enjoyment we encourage catch and release.

At Thunder Rapids Fishing Lodge our cabins are modern, bright, and clean. Hot & Cold running water, flush toilets, showers, and a heated swimming pool will insure tranquility, privacy and a memorable holiday. Thunder Rapids Lodge also has camping facilities with fifty electric and non-electric sites. The camping area has a shower and flush toilet facility that also inlcudes a dumping station. Both myself and the staff at Thunder Rapids Fishing Lodge look forward to sharing our facility with you and we guarentee 110% effort to help insure that you catch a trophy northern pike or walleye.

THE LODGE:

Our lodge is equiped with a small store, that offers such items as gas, ice, groceries, fishing tackle, frozen bait, magazines, souveneirs, T-shirts, and confectionery items.

THE CABINS:

All 4 cabins are insulated, carpeted, and equiped with electric frideg and stove, dishes, cooking utensils, table and chairs, and comfortable beds. We request that you brigyour own bedding and towels. Two to four guests per cabin make for a very comfortable stay. Obedient pets are allowed.

Whitetail Deer - Thunder Rapids Hunting Lodge run 20 feeders, pretty well all hunters see lots of deer at the stands every day. The stands average 12 feet, to a high of 25 feet. You will get 3 different feeder stands for the week. We try to work it so the feeders are hunted only 2 days out of the week. Cold is no problem, we have heated tree stands. Stands are very well placed in well scouted areas over looking feeders, plus established game trails that pass through some of our logged areas, sloughs, and open clearings. Thunder Rapids Lodge starts pre-feeding in September, so by November the Whitetail have very established trails. The guides have a good knowledge of the area. Our outfitting area is 20 X 40 square miles of crown land. The hunts are 6 days. Pricing includes meals, lodging, and pickup from the Saskatoon airport.

Black Bears - The number of black bears in Saskatchewan is good with a lot of bear measuring into the Pope & Young category. We also have a lot of color phases (approx. 50 %). We run 26 stands with all stands being good bow stands. It's exciting. When all of a sudden you look down and there's a 300 pound black bear looking right at you. It will make your heart pound !! The oldest bear taken in 1999 was 19 years old, with a skull measurement of 20 inches. The average bear taken is 4 to 5 years of age. All hunts are 6 days. Meals and accommodation are included. We guarantee you an active stand and will do our best to provide you with a memorable hunt.
