Wawang Lake Resort is a drive to resort in the midst of "fly-in" country. Wawang Lake Resort offers exceptional fishing and hunting similar to that of fly out services. Our cabins are clean & comfortable along with many modern conveniences that today’s society is accustomed to.
Wawang Lake Resort is family owned and operated and has resided here for over 35 years. As the true pioneers of this area, we can honestly say we are seasoned outdoor enthusiasts. Wawang Lake itself is 5,000 acres with miles of irregular shoreline, which offers the fisherman great fish habitat to explore, such as sand bars, shoals, weed beds and islands - perfect for exciting fishing. Wawang Lake Resort is located 150 miles northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario (just north of Upsala, Ontario).
For those seeking to get away from it all, or, wanting to experience secluded setting, we’re not just the ONLY resort on our lake, but the ONLY resort in the entire area, no cottagers, homes, other resorts, shopping malls, or casino’s. Wawang Lake Resort is remote from everything.
Wawang Lake is easily navigable and offers a variety of lake structure that is excellent for fishing. You will be sure to enjoy the beauty of our 1,500' tropical like beach with gradual incline, and, the resort's shoreline bottom is all sand, which is perfect for swimming. Wawang Lake also has several other similar beaches for a private swim, or the traditional shore lunch. Upon your arrival we offer a detailed map of the lake and will highlight areas showing where the successful fishing has been prior to your arrival.
Wawang Lake is known for its trophy walleye and northern. For instance, the largest walleye caught & released was 37" 15 1/2 lb, and, the largest northern also caught & released was 50+" 38 1/2 lb. Guests have stated that they have caught and released well over six (6) trophy fish during the week of their stay.
