Plummers Lodges

Wolf Bay Lodge is the only fishing operation on Phelps Lake in northern Saskatchewan. This virtually virgin 32-mile-long lake opened to anglers in 2000, and much of its waters are still unexplored. Pike up to 50 inches and lake trout in the 30-pound class aggressively chomp down on an assortment of lures. River inlets hold feisty Arctic grayling to challenge your fly-fishing skills. Whatever your quarry, your skilled guide will help you locate the fish and treat you to a traditional shore lunch on one of countless islands. Journeying to this "Land of the Midnight Sun" is an adventure in itself. Fly via Saskatoon to Points North, where a floatplane whisks you to Phelps Lake. This brand-new lodge is still a work in progress, with rustic cabins offering comfortable accommodations for the few hours you won't be fishing. This glacier formed lake is approx. 13500 hectares in size is dappled by countless islands and supported by numerous tributaries providing superb habitat for the fish residents. All trips originate from Saskatoon and include return air to Wolf Bay Lodge. Comfortable heated accomadations with private washroom are supplemented with home cooked meals. Anglers fish with experienced guides from fully equipped boats including casting decks, padded swivel seats, and electronics. Also included is the challenge for the Mystery trout. See website for further information.

Two anglers fish with an experienced guide, using deep and wide 16-foot boats equipped with 25hp 4-stroke motors, as well as comfortable padded swivel seats. Whatever your quarry, your skilled and personable guide will help you locate the fish of your dreams.

Mystery Fish of Phelps Lake - Last year, at least two anglers caught and released, this unidentified fish on Phelps Lake. The photos have been circulated widely among leading fish biologists, none of whom has been able to classify it with any degree of certainty. Is it a strange hybrid or a completely new species? While various theories have been posed, the fish remains a mystery.

Hoping to unlock the secret, Wolf Bay Lodge is offering a free return trip to the first angler who can catch -- and keep -- an example of this fish for DNA testing.

The fishing on Phelps Lake consists of mainly trophy lake trout in the 20 - 30 lbs + class, and northern pike in the 40-50 inch + range. The fishing has proven to be world class with master anglers being caught on almost a daily basis.

All fishing is barbless and catch & release (and always has been) with the exception of the daily ritual of a traditional shore lunch prepared by the experienced guides. Plus, all waters are managed regularly to ensure the health & welfare of the fish is maintained. Being the sole operation on the lake along with quality management, Wolf Bay Lodge will ensure top quality angling on Phelps Lake for Years to come.
