Wollaston Lake Lodge will surround you in comfort. Finding this kind of comfort this far north is completely unheard of. But after an exhilarating day of fishing, it's everything you need and want. Our Lodge is a masterpiece of relaxing spaces for dining, entertainment, panoramic lake-viewing and rejuvenation. Our internationally trained chefs will dazzle you with meals that seem impossible so far into the wilderness. Although nature is at its finest here, we're also equipped with the latest in movies and big-screen satellite entertainment, game tables, a full-service bar, fine wines, humidor, and a well-stocked tackle and gear shop.
Our efficient shore staff can schedule a soothing massage, make sure the sauna is ready for you, help plan a fly-out, arrange a special meal, prepare meeting and conference facilities and more. In addition to the fishing, the people of Wollaston Lodge are the reason why guests return here year after year.
Wollaston Lake Lodge Private cabins - three newly constructed in 2001 and four in 2002-are spread across the grounds, and allow you a choice of comfortable accommodations for one to eight people. Each is outfitted with thoughtful details, including private hot showers, big, thick terry towels and warm flannel sheets.
Travel first class at Wollaston Lake Lodge in our fleet of Lund Pro-V 18-foot boats, designed and built exclusively for us. Powered by 80-hp Yamaha four-stroke engines, they handle big water smoothly and efficiently. Comfortable interiors include spring-ride pedestal seating, raised casting decks, wide gunnels, Lowrance X-85 depth finders and MotorGuide trolling motors.
Daily fly-outs in our own Wollaston Lake Lodge nine-passenger de Havilland Turbo Otter float plane are also available. They can take you to even more remote destinations where as few as 50 people a year will fish. There are several day-long trips, each focusing on a unique fishery-some are known for trophy Northern Pike, others for Walleye, Grayling, Lake Trout, or a combination.
Wollaston Lake is renowned for its monster Northern Pike and is considered by many to be the finest Northern Pike fishery in the world. In 2001 alone, nearly 1,400 trophy Northern Pike over 40 inches long were caught and released. In addition, powerful Lake Trout are abundant and ready to do battle. Sought-after Walleye run in the river directly in front of the Lodge. And the spectacular, acrobatic fighters, Arctic Grayling, are just a short fly-out away.
As a result, Wollaston Lake is one of the few places left where you can catch all four of the fish that form the famous "Grand Slam" of freshwater fishing. They're all here, ready to give you the thrills of a lifetime in a single fishing adventure. Our expert guides have what it takes to help you in that quest. They're a wealth of knowledge on the fish, the lake, and the entire surrounding area. And yes, they all perform unforgettable magic with shore lunches.
With a 90 percent return rate and an average of over seven years experience on Wollaston Lake, our guides will enhance your fishing adventure whether you're a pro or beginner, using spinning, casting or fly-fishing gear.
Several of our guides were among the first in Canada to earn Certified Freshwater Angling Guide titles. All are graduates of our own two-week guide school held every spring. The school includes an extensive series of classroom and on-the-water sessions, covering map reading, fish habits, fish feeding patterns, general lake information, careful handling of fish and our strict adherence to catch and release (except for shore lunches), fish cleaning techniques, and shore lunch preparation. Plus, guides are certified in CPR and first aid.
