The information on this site was provided to us from the lodge or outfitter. Please visit their link to find even more detailed information.
Moosewa Outpost is accessed by water, located on Poupore Lake, seven
miles north of the mainland landing. There is a pick up area at Sauble
Lake and a short Pontoon Boat ride will get you to the camp. This camp
setting gives you the type of solitude and wilderness you thought only
possible with a fly in camp. You will fall asleep to the lonesome call of the
loon and enjoy quiet days fishing, hiking, canoeing or just plain relaxing.
Cabins have from two to three bedrooms, all with heated indoor facilities,
fully equiped kitchens, and quiet solar power to provide the energy for the
lighting. Meals are available "family style" in the dining room which
overlooks the lake. Moosewa Outpost is a magical place and the memories
made there will last a life time. It will call you back year after year.
The Wilderness setting is very important to our family operated camp and
as such we practice conservation and go to great lengths to maintain the
beauty of the area by being actively involved in timber and wildlife
management plans. We strongly encourage children being involved in the
outdoors, so they understand the beauty and value of nature, and why it is
important to protect it.
Moosewa Outpost is located about 60 miles north of the town of
Massey, Ontario which sits on Hwy 17 west of Sudbury.
From Massey, take Hwy #553 North to Hwy #810 and follow it to
the end. At this point you will be at Ritchie Falls. Cross over the
damn and follow the road (5 miles) to the Sauble Lake landing.
Massey is two hours east of Sault Ste Marie Michigan, and about
10 hours from Detroit. Massey is one hour west of Sudbury.
The camps location was the original site of an old logging camp, back when
timber was harvested and hauled by horses. Many old artifacts of the past
can still be found in the area. The present day fishing camp had it's origins in
the late 1960's. The camp now sits within a water way provincial park, along
the Lac Aux Sable - Bark Lake canoe route.
FISHING - The area lakes are well known for some of the finest Lake Trout fishing to be found any where in the province. With over half a dozen remote lakes accessible from Poupore lake you can experience a new adventure every day of the week. Lake Trout of 20lbs, and Speckle Trout of 5lbs are
not uncommon at Moosewa. Being alone on your very own pristine trout lake is what we are all about.
Moosewa Outpost is known for offering a deep wilderness black bear hunting
experience. Hunters will enjoy absolute remoteness, and personal attention as they hunt baited sites in our 89 square km bear management area. None of which is accessible by road. Our Black Bear hunting area is accessible only by boat or by Moosewa maintained ATV trails. This remoteness offers hunters in search of a memorable black bears hunting adventure some of the finest unspoiled wilderness to be found in Ontario. We are especially proud of our incredible archery sites, but also welcome rifle and muzzle loader hunters. We begin baiting daily July 1st, with almost 30 baited sites along the shores of Lac Aux Sable, Poupore Lake and within the forest north of the camp. Only accepting a maximum of 6 hunters per week ensures great personal attention, and all within a small camp atmosphere that you will be sure to remember. With many guests returning year after year, we are confident you will enjoy your hunt at Moosewa. The area also offers excellent fishing for lake trout & speckle trout allowing hunters and family to enjoy a complete wilderness getaway. Fishing during mid day, and hunting in late afternoon.
