Welcome to Nanika Guiding. We hope you will join us on a tour through our web site. If you are looking for information on a specific activity, simply select one of the buttons above. Below is a description of what we offer together with a brief summary of Nanika Guiding and the general region. Upon completion of this site each region will have its own page and a more detailed description including information on activities specific to that region.

Nanika Guiding is a Canadian family owned and operated business, operating since 1983 in west central British Columbia. The area is generally called the "Lakes District" and straddles a divide between two of the Province's major watersheds, the Fraser and Skeena. This vast area of lakes, streams, snow capped mountains and forested valleys provides numerous outdoor adventures.

We welcome you to come and enjoy this beautiful area with us for we have many outdoor adventures available. There is terrific wilderness fishing using flies or lures, depending upon the lake and time of year. We offer canoe trips throughout the Region's many numerous lakes, where we camp out in our remote cabins or roomy tents. There are also many remote areas to explore by hiking / backpacking or fly in with us to the pristine reaches of British Columbia to commune with nature which civilisation has left untouched.

We offer a five day fish trip in the wilds of Northwest British Columbia. This is where you can fish in a true wilderness surroundings and have the whole area to yourselves to enjoy. We don't mix groups at our private lodge, so you can be assured privacy for you or your group. The lodge is situated on a rocky point with a scenic view of the glacier fed lake with its distinctive turquoise color and the surrounding mountains with glaciers and snow capped peaks. Mountain goat can be watched grazing the slopes above right from the Lodge dinning room table.

The fishing is excellent. Be it fly fishing, spin casting or leisurely trolling, there is very little tackle these hungry Rainbows won't bite. The trout can be caught up to five pounds, with the average being 2-3 pounds. We've had folks stand on shore in front of the lodge and catch 20-30 fish, and lose as many in one short afternoon. There are numerous streams entering the lake from the mountains above which provide great places for avid fly fishermen or spin caster to fish every day, or there is also the river fishing at the outlet of the lake.

Francois Lake - Your adventure will begin at our home by the west end of Francios Lake which lies near the centre of British Columbia. We are 50 kms south of Houston and 60 kms south west of Burns Lake. Both towns are on Highway 16 with approximate populations of 1400 people, and are the two towns closest to us. In such a setting we can offer a variety of out door activities for the area is remote enough to be rich with wild life and beautiful scenery, yet close enough to society to have all the benefits of civilisation. Francios Lake is our base of operations and is the gate way to the remote untouched wilderness the coastal mountains provide. Our other facilities are spread throughout the area and are each unique in what they can offer.

Collins Lake - Collins Lake is a small little lake with a rustic atmosphere. It is here that you will find a quaint little cedar sided cabin snuggled in the trees near the foot of this shallow seven mile lake. It is accessible by vehicle and hence allows one to travel the many gravel roads in search of adventure. Quick trips are easily made to the numberous other lakes in the area, as well as the many mountains and other attractions. It is also from here that we will fly by float plane to Nanika, Kidprice, and Atna Lakes.

Kidprice Lake - Kidprice Lake is your next step into the coastal mountains as you leave Francios Lake and the civilised world behind. The lake is accessible by plane and canoe only, and therefore offers things that Francios Lake, Collins Lake, and most of the world, can't possibly offer. The animals, mountains, and forests here have rarely seen human activity and are yours to explore in peaceful solitude. It is a six mile long lake, near mountains and natural forests, yet most spectacular of all is the mighty Nanika Falls. Roaring glacial green waters drop 75 feet into white rapids in an amazing display of nature's beauty.

Nanika Lake - Accessible only by plane and deeper still in the coastal mountains, lays the majestic waters of Nanika Lake. Here the mountains gaze down from their stony heights, while their granite cliffs fall straight to the clear water's edge and into the lakes amazing cold depths. Snuggled in the beauty of the scenery, on a rocky point, Nanika Lodge welcomes visitors to comfortably enjoy the picturesque land that unfolds around them. With alpine flower filled marshes, snow capped mountains, glaciers, deep forests, mountain streams, and so much more to offer, the excellent fishing, lodging and hunting seem to be only a bonus.

Atina Lake - Atna Lake remains the most rugged of all our remote camps though it is accessible by both plane and canoe. Incredible cliffs tower over the cabin based on a large rock at the end of the 4 mile long lake. What sets Atna Lake apart from the other lakes is its murky glacial waters. Powdered rock fills the trickling mountain streams which in turn fills the lake and gives it a unique cloudy colour and beauty. Here one can find places truly unseen by other men, and feel the power of the wild coastal mountains.
